A window is the one part of your house you look through every day. It should be built for this climate and fitted to this house.
We're a Prescott window company. We sell, measure and install windows for homes across the Quad Cities, from century-old houses near the courthouse square to new custom builds in the hills off Williamson Valley Road. One crew handles your job from the first measurement to the last bead of sealant, so the person who promised you a clean install is the person accountable for it.
Prescott is hard on windows. At about 5,400 feet the sun is strong, winter nights drop well below freezing, and spring wind pushes dust through every gap. Old aluminum frames conduct that heat and cold straight into the room, and failed seals fog between the panes. Modern vinyl, fiberglass and wood-clad windows with low-E glass handle these swings far better. Picking the right one for your house, your budget and your neighborhood's rules is what we do.
Much of the city now falls under Prescott's wildland-urban interface code, and some neighborhoods sit inside historic preservation districts. Both can affect which windows you're allowed to install. We check before we quote, not after, so the windows you approve are windows you can actually install.

New construction windowsMaterials
Here is how the common frame materials compare, with average per-window prices from Forbes Home's window replacement cost guide.
| Frame | Average per window | How it does in Prescott |
|---|---|---|
| Vinyl | $450 to $900 | Efficient, low maintenance and the most common choice. Pick a heat-stable formulation and lighter colors on sun-facing walls. |
| Fiberglass | $450 to $1,100 | Expands and contracts much like glass, so it holds its seals through big day-to-night swings. Takes dark finishes well. |
| Wood or wood-clad | $550 to $1,950 | The right look for historic and craftsman homes. Exterior cladding protects the wood from sun and snow. |
| Composite | $600 to $2,500 | Stronger than vinyl with a wood-like profile. A good middle ground for higher-end remodels. |
| Aluminum | $400 to $700 | Inexpensive but conducts heat and cold. Usually what we're taking out, not putting in. |

How it works
We visit, look at every window, ask what bothers you about them and check for historic district or wildfire code rules.
An itemized price per opening, with options side by side. No pressure to decide that day.
Once you choose, we measure every opening again before ordering, because custom windows can't be returned.
Our crew installs, seals and cleans up, then we walk every window with you and leave the warranty paperwork.
Built for 5,400 feet
Big temperature swings. Clear high-desert nights cool fast after warm days. Frames that expand at a different rate than the glass work their seals loose over time, which is why fogged double-pane windows are so common here.
Strong sun. Low-E coatings cut the heat that comes in on west- and south-facing glass in summer and help hold heat in during winter. The National Fenestration Rating Council label on every window lists its U-factor and solar heat gain so you can compare products directly (NFRC).
Wind and dust. Spring wind finds every gap. A properly flashed and sealed opening matters as much as the window itself.
Wildfire. The City of Prescott adopted the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code, which sets rules for glazing on homes in the interface (Prescott City Code 6-2). Tempered and multi-pane glass are among the options it recognizes. We confirm what applies to your address.
Why a local window company
A premium window installed badly performs like a cheap one. Most of the problems we're called to fix on newer windows, such as drafts around the frame, water stains below the sill and sashes that bind, come from the installation, not the product. That's why we don't hand installs to whoever is available that week.
Being local matters for the same reason. We know which neighborhoods have HOAs that care about frame color, which streets fall inside a preservation district, and which hillside lots get the full force of the afternoon sun. We know that a home in Chino Valley needs a different conversation about wind and dust than one in Forest Highlands needs about wildfire glazing.
And when something needs attention after the job, a sash to adjust or a question about the warranty, you call the same people who installed it, and they're twenty minutes away, not a call center in another state.

FAQ
Forbes Home puts the average window replacement around $800 per window, with most falling between $300 and $3,000 depending on size, style and material. For 6 to 10 windows, its range is $4,000 to $7,000. We give you an itemized price per opening after measuring.
Most replacement projects take one or two days once the windows arrive. Custom windows usually take several weeks to manufacture after ordering.
No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) ended for windows installed after December 31, 2025. Windows installed in 2025 can still be claimed on 2025 returns.
Possibly, but changes to the exterior appearance of buildings in established Prescott preservation districts go through the Prescott Preservation Commission. We'll help you choose windows that fit the house and prepare for that review.
Yes. We supply and install nail-fin new construction windows for custom homes, additions and remodels, and coordinate the schedule with your builder.
The seal between the panes has failed and moist air has gotten in. The insulating gas is gone too. The fix is a new glass unit or a new window, depending on the frame's condition.
