What changes the price in Prescott
Size and view windows
Large picture windows and walls of glass facing Thumb Butte, the Dells or the mountains are common here, and price climbs quickly with size.
Glass required by code or location
Tempered glass costs more than standard glass. It's required near doors, tubs and stairs, and it's one of the glazing options in the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code that the City of Prescott has adopted (Prescott City Code 6-2).
Historic homes
Houses in Prescott's preservation districts may call for wood or wood-clad windows with specific profiles, which cost more than standard vinyl.
Installation method
Insert replacement into an existing frame is the least disruptive. Full-frame replacement, resized openings and new construction installs add labor and sometimes a permit.
Color and finish
Dark exterior finishes and wood interiors add cost, and dark colors on sun-facing walls should be in a material rated for the heat.
Is there a tax credit?
Not for new installations. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered 30% of qualifying window costs up to $600 a year, but it ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025 (IRS). Windows installed in 2025 can still be claimed on 2025 returns.

FAQ
Window pricing questions.
How much does it cost to replace 10 windows?
Forbes Home puts 6 to 10 windows at about $4,000 to $7,000 and 11 to 15 windows at about $6,000 to $11,000. Material, size and style move the number.
Is vinyl or fiberglass the better value?
Vinyl is usually the lowest-cost efficient option. Fiberglass costs a little more and handles temperature swings and dark colors better. Both are good choices in Prescott.
Does a bigger order lower the price per window?
Usually, yes. Setup and travel are shared across more windows, so whole-house projects tend to cost less per opening.
Can I still get the federal window tax credit?
Only for windows installed in 2025 or earlier. The 25C credit ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025.
