Same climate, different houses

The four towns we serve share a mountain climate but not much else when it comes to houses. Prescott has some of the oldest neighborhoods in Arizona, with Victorian and craftsman homes near the courthouse square whose exterior changes can come under review by the Prescott Preservation Commission, plus forested hillside subdivisions now covered by the city's wildland-urban interface code. Prescott Valley grew quickly from the 1970s on, and many of its homes still have their original builder-grade windows inside HOAs with their own architectural rules.

Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt are more rural. Ranch homes and manufactured homes on acreage face open wind and long views, and the closest neighbor may be a quarter mile away. Window priorities there lean toward sealing out dust and wind and framing the view.

Each town also has its own building department, which matters when a project changes the size of an opening or adds a new one. Choose your town for the housing styles, local rules and window recommendations that apply where you live.
