Pricing and estimates.

What does a new window cost in Prescott?

Forbes Home puts the national average around $800 per window installed, with most projects between $300 and $3,000 per window depending on size, material and glass. Our pricing page breaks it down by material, style, glass and project size.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The in-home visit and the written, itemized quote cost nothing, and there's no obligation to go ahead.

Can I replace just a few windows now and the rest later?

Yes. We measure the whole house once and price each window separately, so later phases match the first in color, profile and glass.

Is there still a federal tax credit for new windows?

Not for new installations. The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025, according to the IRS.

Glass and frames.

Which window frame material is best for the Prescott climate?

Vinyl is the most affordable efficient option and works well in light colors. Fiberglass handles heat, cold and dark exterior colors better. Wood-clad suits historic and higher-end homes. Most Quad Cities homes do well with vinyl or fiberglass.

What glass should I choose for strong high-altitude sun?

Double-pane glass with a low-E coating. On west- and south-facing walls, choose a low solar heat gain coefficient to keep afternoon heat out. Compare the ratings on each window's NFRC label.

Is triple-pane glass worth it here?

Usually not for the whole house. Well-specified double-pane low-E glass covers most Quad Cities homes. Triple-pane can make sense for noise near a highway or for a very exposed north wall.

Why do my double-pane windows look foggy between the glass?

The seal around the insulated glass unit has failed and moisture has gotten between the panes. It can't be cleaned out. The glass unit or the whole window needs replacing.

Permits, timing and install day.

How long does window replacement take?

Custom windows are built to order, which usually takes several weeks after you approve the quote. Installation itself takes one or two days for most homes.

Do I need a permit to replace windows?

Same-size replacement usually doesn't. Enlarging an opening, adding a window or building an addition generally needs a permit from your town's building department: Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley or Dewey-Humboldt. We handle it when it's needed.

Will replacing windows damage my stucco?

Not with insert replacement, which fits the new window inside the existing frame. Full-frame replacement may disturb stucco or trim, and we'll tell you in the quote if a window needs it.

Do I need to be home on installation day?

Someone should be there at the start to confirm the plan and at the end for the walkthrough. In between, you're free to go about your day.

How do I check a window contractor's license in Arizona?

Search the contractor's name or license number on the Arizona Registrar of Contractors website. It shows license status, classification and complaint history.
